VOIP & SIP
The majority of systems that PeachETS currently provide are VOIP/SIP enabled, or are complete VOIP systems, which means they are capable of accepting the hardware / software necessary to provide that service.
There are many misconceptions about "VOIP", the main being all calls are free and they are free anywhere !. The first thing to understand is the person you are trying to contact, also has to have the hardware to receive that call.
This technology is cost effective for medium to high call traffic between inter branch connections and remote home workers.
For connections between a head and branch office you would utilize IP trunking, which would allow all inter company voice and fax traffic to take the IP route. No IP telephones would be needed for this type of application.
If however there is a third branch with a limited number of staff , it may be more cost effective to provide IP telephones for that purpose, meaning no telephone system would be needed at that site, but the users would benefit from all the features that their larger head office users have.
